About Global Second Opinion

We are an experienced team of physicians, case managers, data analysts, IT developers, UX designers, IT security specialists and data privacy experts. We aim to revolutionize access to top specialists globally while always keeping the patient at the center of all we do. Medical knowledge is global, healthcare is local. The co-founders, Anna and Britta are physicians who trained and have worked extensively in Europe, the US and other parts of the world. This has allowed them to gain a deep understanding of various healthcare systems and their differences. After facilitating international second opinions for friends and family members at top medical centers for some time, they decided to make such a service easily accessible to patients from around the world.

Dr. Anna Orsola
CO-FOUNDER

Anna is a physician scientist who has been engaged in many aspects of cancer diagnosis and treatment for over 20 years. After completing her medical and surgical training in Barcelona, Spain, she completed 3 years of postdoctoral research in Boston at Harvard hospitals, developing a love for science and technology that has always been at the core of her understanding of clinical work.

As a urologist in Barcelona, she worked with bladder cancer patients with a focus on developing risk stratification tools. Upon her return to Boston she was struck by the proactive involvement of cancer patients in their medical decision making process. She became increasingly interested in the role of such participation and the impact this can have on patients and their families. Anna was awarded the 1st AUA (American Urological Association) Visiting Scholar grant as well as grants from Real Colegio Complutense and La Caixa, and has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications.

Our Mission

Tailoring treatment to the individual patient can have a huge impact on quality of life. From the patient's perspective, your treating physician's willingness to support a second opinion should be reassuring enough. Obtaining your second opinion from a top Medical Center will give you peace of mind. From the physician's perspective, creating a solid international peer network enriches your practice and you will remain up-to-date with developments in the field beyond your country. We believe this is a win-win situation, and this is what Global Second Opinion is all about.

Our mission is to help access high quality medical advice from top, leading and trusted sources in a simple and easy to navigate way, regardless of where you are. In doing so, we aim to create a connecting network for physicians to share their cases worldwide and help provide the best possible health knowledge and advice. We use the best digital technology to connect you with top colleagues at international medical centers. It is not about one opinion being better or more important than another opinion; it is about exploring all available treatment approaches to find the one that fits our patients best.
